PCP splits the cost into a deposit, lower monthly payments, and a larger “optional final payment” (sometimes called a balloon payment or guaranteed future value) at the end.
At the end of the agreement you can pay that final payment to keep the car, hand it back (subject to agreed mileage and fair wear and tear), or part-exchange any equity towards your next car.
Monthly payments are usually lower than Hire Purchase because you’re only financing the difference between the price and the car’s predicted future value, plus interest. An annual mileage limit applies.
